Kavali Municipality observed NAMASTE Day on 14 July 2026 at the Swachha Vignana Kendram, Kavali Municipality, with a special focus on the welfare, safety, dignity and well-being of sanitation worker
The programme was led by the Municipal Commissioner, Kavali Municipality, who interacted with the sanitation workers and explained the various welfare schemes and support measures available for them. The importance of occupational safety and security while performing sanitation duties was also highlighted, with special emphasis on protecting workers from occupational hazards and ensuring a safe working environment.
As part of the NAMASTE DAY Program, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Kits were distributed to sanitation workers. The Municipal Commissioner explained the importance of using the prescribed PPE properly during duty hours and encouraged workers to make the use of protective equipment an essential part of their daily work practices. The programme emphasised that safety equipment is not merely a requirement, but an important means of protecting the health, safety and dignity of every sanitation worker.
Kavali Municipality also conducted canvassing and awareness activities on the NAMASTE Day Programme to spread awareness among workers and the public about the objectives of the programme and the importance of recognizing and supporting the contribution of sanitation workers to a clean and healthy city.
The observance of NAMASTE Day reflects Kavali Municipality's commitment to ensuring that sanitation workers receive not only the necessary safety equipment and welfare support but also the respect, dignity and recognition they deserve for their vital contribution to urban sanitation.
